Frequently asked questions

Permanent makeup

  • We do not offer permanent makeup services to pregnant individuals, however we do allow women who are breastfeeding. The risk while breastfeeding is infection, which is a general risk with any tattooing services. You may also experience potential healing delays while breastfeeding.

  • 18+

minors can have the procedure done with a parent present.

  • If you fail to book your mini touch-up within 3 months from your initial appointment, unfortunately you will be charged a full set again. Permanent makeup is done in 2 appointment, be sure to prepare for both.

  • Permanent makeup can be painful depending on your pain tolerance however we use numbing agents during the procedure to ensure optimal comfort. There is no pain after the procedure.

  • Permanent makeup requires the initial appointment and a perfecting appointment 6-8 weeks after which is called the mini touch-up. The mini touch-up is required between 6 weeks to 3 months. After the mini touch-up, we see you for a yearly touch-up which is between 1 to 3 years depending on individuals. Yearly touch-ups for lips are every 3-5 years.

  • Healing is dependant on the individual’s own health. Some individuals heal within 2 weeks, and some need a few extra days. Expect to be following the aftercare instructions for at least 2 weeks.

  • I do not offer touch-up appointments for other artist’s work, therefore if you wish to become a client you’ll need to go through the initial and mini as every other client.

That is IF you are a candidate for a coverup, OR if I am willing to take you on as a permanent makeup client (depending on the quality and saturation of the previous work done). Please send me an email with photos of your eyebrows (taken with outside lighting: Stand outside or near a window for the best quality). We will decide if you are a candidate for a coverup or if you need removal.

  • In majority of cases, no. But if the following applies to you, please email microbladingbyamyc@gmail.com for a quick consult:

    - Have pre-existing permanent brow makeup (send clear photos, date and year of your last appointment, type of service done, how many sessions of PMU you’ve had)

    - Have had eyebrows removed by saline or laser removal

    - Have any serious skin issues on the face e.g. psoriasis, eczema, acne, etc

    - Have allergies/sensitivities to makeup products, hair dyes, (a Patch Test is recommended 1-2 weeks prior - request one by emailing us!) A patch test is 70$ plus tax.

In-person consultations are also available at a cost of $50 plus HST for 20 minutes.

Please note, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason.

  • The best way to contact me is via email or DM on instagram. We are 100% online only, there is absolutely no contact via phone calls or text messages. The website is fully equipped with all the information clients needs, however If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to email me at microbladingbyamyc@gmail.com or send me a message via the website!

  • Permanent makeup is … permanent.

Some businesses try and get away with saying that Microblading is semi-permanent, this isn’t the case. It’s semi-permanent in a sense that you’ll need a touch-up to freshen up the look of the permanent makeup every so often (Yearly touch-up) .

Permanent makeup fades, yes but you will always have some residue leftover even years after just one appointment. Be sure to do lots of research before committing.

  • You *CANNOT* be tattooed if you have any of the following:

    • are currently pregnant

    • are on blood thinning medication

    • have taken accutane in the past 12 months

    • are prone to keloid scarring (scar tissue that grows bigger than the initial wound, and often has a 'bubbled' look-- if your only keloid scar is from a cesarean, you're a-okay)

    • have recently undergone chemotherapy

    • are on antibiotics (you must wait two full weeks after your course is completed)

    • have laminated brows (wait 8-10 weeks after your lamination)

    • have diabetes (if you have diabetes, please bring a dr.’s note clearance). Please keep in mind that diabetes can affect the healing as your immune system is comprised.

    • if your skin is damaged or compromised in any way, including but not limited to; sun burns/damage, recent chemical peels, laser treatments, or freshly waxed skin.

    • over moles (we cannot under any circumstance over over a mole).

    • have used growth serums/retinoids/retinoids in the area in the past two weeks.

    • Over a Sunburn.

Skin must always be in good health to tattoo!

  • - Skin type. Oily skin types will fade faster, especially for Microblading, due to the constant oil production.

    - Sun exposure. The sun can damage the skin and cause the pigment to fade faster and become ashy. Apply SPF 30+ daily on the brows to keep them looking fresh!

    - Skincare ingredients. Vitamin c, retinols, Retin-A, AHA, and BHA based products exfoliate the skin and will cause faster fading if applied on the eyebrow and forehead area (gravity is not our friend here).

    - Exfoliants

    - Lifestyle habits. Smoking has been known to cause the pigment to fade faster.

    - Skin cell turnover. The longer the regeneration of skin cells, the longer the pigment holds. Hence mature skin will hold pigment longer than youthful skin with faster metabolisms.

    - Bleeding during the procedure. Bleeding will cause the pigment to be pushed out, leading to unideal healed results.

  • There isn’t something that is needed, however some clients do like to bring headphones to help distract them if they have a low pain tolerance (or some might not like the noise of the procedure).

Having a Water bottle is always good to have on hand, we are together for long periods of time.

if you are taking a lot of medication, definitely bring a list of your current medication with you as most people don’t know the names by heart.

To properly be prepared, please read the pre and post care page!

  • unfortunately once an appointment is booked you can not cancel or reschedule without losing the booking deposit paid online.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please email me and I will manually cancel the appointment and you’ll be able to rebook online following the same process.

If you choose to cancel your existing appointment and rebook, you’re previous appointment deposit (canceled) does NOT go towards the total of the brow appointment, it is a loss deposit.
